Problem posting?

Postby Linda Anderson on Wed Feb 03, 2010 8:40 pm

Is this the place to report problems?

I have had problems posting twice today. I write a post and submit, nothing happens... then I notice that someone else has apparently been working on a post at the same time as me because their post is there and mine is not. I believe it said posted successfully, but not positive. It came back with a screen with no content. I started over and posted successfully, but maybe when two are doing it simultanously there is a problem?

I've had this problem too. My solution: After pushing the "submit" button, scroll down and make sure your post is not still sitting there, waiting to be submitted. If it is, press the "submit" button again and the second time seems to be a charm.

If someone else posts in the same topic while you are writing yours, the program will always ask you if you want to continue posting or want to revise your post in light of the new post. Often, if I'm moving too quickly, I overlook this question and move on too quickly, thus losing the post I had been working on. The message asking you if you want to continue posting is too subtle, and easily overlooked. But I've learned to slow down and look for it.

What you also might be experiencing is an intended feature in the forum's software. While you are writing your post, someone else may have added a post to the thread. So when you hit the Submit button, if there has been a post made, the system will show it to you so that you may adjust your post in response. If you look carefully next time that happens, you will see a message that reads something to the effect..."Another post has been made since you were last on that thread, here it is. (and the new post will be shown). It gives you an opportunity to address the new post.

EDIT: Ha Ha! It just happened to me with Carol's post. :heya: Here is the exact message the software gives you: At least one new post has been made to this topic. You may wish to review your post in light of this.
The ultimate Truth is beyond words. Doctrines are words. They’re not the Way. The Way is wordless. Words are illusions. Freeing oneself from words is liberation.

As computer folk like to say, "this isn't a bug, it's a feature"!

And, having been a part of that lineage for so long, I can testify that it's true! :lol2:

My favorite one, in answer to questions about when the system would be up:
